@TWiT @jp_bennett @RobCampbell Thanks for touching on #LinuxMobile in this episode.

> [01:25:24]: getting ridiculous out there, the whole smartphone debacle we have going on. If someone could make a full-functioning Linux smartphone, I think it's getting to the point where I would pay maybe some serious money for it. I'd be willing to pay the premium dollars just make it work, get a phone on there.

Please check out the #FLX1s from @furilabs It's the most user-friendly option for #MobileLinux currently and stuff just works out of the box, including camera, phone calls, flatpaks, Android apps, etc. The specs are decent and the price is $499 atm.

@fbinin also check the #Droidian devices list. Droidian relies on proprietary Android drivers to get some things to work, but on the flip side you'll have more things that "just work" without having to set up things or wait for someone to figure out the drivers.

FLX1 which I recommended earlier runs FuriOS which is based on Droidian, but you'll probably find one of the devices listed on the official Droidian list secondhand at a much lower cost:

🤖 #Android Based:
🎖️Pros: Best app compatibility (Signal, Banking, Maps).
☔️Cons: Still tied to the Android ecosystem structure.

🐧 #Linux Based:
🎖️Pros: True freedom from Google. More secure code base.
☔️Cons: App compatibility is harder: use "Anbox" or "AlienDalvik" layers, or find native Linux apps.

@vform Id like to add #droidian to the list, as I have enjoyed it. Runs on my ThinkPhone when others have not.

Droidian is a GNU/Linux distribution based on Debian for mobile devices. The goal of Droidian is to be able to run Debian on Android phones.

This is accomplished by using well-known technologies such as libhybris and Halium.

Note that this is a downstream Debian derivative, please report bugs and support requests to us, see below for contact details.
