PoempelFox🦊I was planning to visit my favorite island of #Madeira once again this year. I learnt that they now collect a 3 Euro fee per day for using "Classified Walking Routes", i.e. practically all hiking paths and #Levada s. I initially didn't think much of it, because I'll gladly pay 3 Euros for upkeep and cleaning of these paths - until I learnt how they implement it:
There are 35 sections that you have to book and pay individually. On a pretty typical walk, you'll use between 2 and 4 of these, so you'll pay between 6 and 12 Euros per day. And the website does not even permit you to book more than one section at once.
