Thus do appalling dullards such as Eliezer Yudkowsky and Scott Alexander (the #LessWrong fellow) and their gaggles of followers regard themselves as the only valid inheritors of this Western tradition of first-principles reasoning, sitting at their computers for hours in wearisome circular "debates" among "freethinkers" unable to see how ideological and limited their thinking really is because they rigorously police their numbers against dissent (construed of course as lack of intelligence, perhaps even as insanity or villainy) and lamenting about the "hegemony of empiricism" (an actual Dark Intellectual catchphrase) which interferes with their assertions of intellectual supremacy.

If only they weren't held back by all the woke mind virus zombies, they complain. If only they weren't surrounded by people too stupid to understand the purity and self-evident nature of all their theories.

Polymaths — LessWrong
Polymaths — LessWrong

This three-part series contrasts two ways that genius and innovation manifest in the world: first principles thinking and arguing by analogy. Focused on the creative process of polymaths throughout the ages, the series highlights the benefits of analogical thinking and the dangers of reasoning by first principles.

@saxnot hey sorry, we are in the middle of quite some stuff before day1 and hadn't had time to properly check things before replying to you...

briefly discussed this with a wider group, and the little that was known about "#lesswrong", and what we could find about it got a rather consensual feeling of "icky". everyone is welcome anytime anyways, but it doesnt seem like something we would like to include in our own little "fahrplan".

I am sure you'll understand. <3

I mean jeez, this is fucking #Deathism.

No wonder these people hate #EliezerYudkowsky if they literally want Global Warming to kill people. His casual Libertarian / Socialist musings are literally the antithesis of this racist sexist pro-death fascist idiocy, and he's literally spent the last 10 years screaming "don't let these people run society."

In fact the fact that the people he was associating with here are so fundamentally at odds with #Yudkowsky speaks VOLUMES about his character, in ways that are making me reassess my issues with him: I'd take an entire #LessWrong worth of rambling Yudkowsky fans over Joscha Bach's brand of fascist deathism any day.
