My journey to the microwave alternate timeline — LessWrong

@saxnot hey sorry, we are in the middle of quite some stuff before day1 and hadn't had time to properly check things before replying to you...

briefly discussed this with a wider group, and the little that was known about "#lesswrong", and what we could find about it got a rather consensual feeling of "icky". everyone is welcome anytime anyways, but it doesnt seem like something we would like to include in our own little "fahrplan".

I am sure you'll understand. <3

I mean jeez, this is fucking #Deathism.

No wonder these people hate #EliezerYudkowsky if they literally want Global Warming to kill people. His casual Libertarian / Socialist musings are literally the antithesis of this racist sexist pro-death fascist idiocy, and he's literally spent the last 10 years screaming "don't let these people run society."

In fact the fact that the people he was associating with here are so fundamentally at odds with #Yudkowsky speaks VOLUMES about his character, in ways that are making me reassess my issues with him: I'd take an entire #LessWrong worth of rambling Yudkowsky fans over Joscha Bach's brand of fascist deathism any day.

"This title is reasonable" – a commentary on LW, speaking to the title of the book "If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies"

I've read the book. While the title raised my eyebrows originally, the argument contained is very well put forward, and lived up to my high expectations to the authors.

Anyone who cares about where our future with #AI is heading, would do well to read this book – and share it with policy makers!

Rationalism is not bad per se, but like "truth" in a name, it can be a red flag. Despite our own name, #RationalWiki does acknowledge this (https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Essay:I_thought_this_was_supposed_to_be_RATIONALWiki), and RationalWiki does not have a hierarchical structure.

I thought this was supposed to be RATIONALWiki

I get a lot of requests for a piece on the AI 2027 paper. That’s the one that draws a lot of lines going up on a graph to show we’re getting a genuine artificial general intelligence by 2027! Then it kills us all.
But the important thing about AI 2027 is that it comes straight from the hardcore AI doomsday cult nutcases.

#Singularity #AdamBecker #AI2027 #EffectiveAltruism #EliezerYudkowsky #LessWrong

every time I hear a snippet of discourse or interview from a “rationalist community” member I just really wonder what has to happen to someone’s brain to make them that fucking stupid & smug.

that whole #lessWrong world seems like an unbelievably powerful dunning kruger amplifier.

Why Are There So Many Rationalist Cults?—Asterisk

There’s a lot to like about the Rationalist community, but they do have a certain tendency to spawn — shall we say — high demand groups. We sent a card-carrying Rat to investigate what’s really going on.
