Alrighty, here goes Lego Technic Volvo EC500 excavator 😁
This is one big mother of a set. I'm no bigfoot at size 43 but this maybe gives you some idea just how big the box is. At 2359 pieces, this is several times bigger than any other set I've ever done.
With Legos, one soon gets used to rummaging the pile for the right parts, but here you start with rummaging the box for the bag labeled 1. I think I saw 16 in there. The assembly instructions come in two books, part 1 and 2, each about 1cm thick.
Working through bag 1 I came upon something I'd never seen before with Legos: reference to a mystery "extra parts" bag for a part that was not in bag 1. And sure enough, there was an non-numbered plastic bag of parts with various pieces, including the one missing from 1. All the numbered bags are made of paper, so this plastic bag is something like an errata bag? Strange. AFAICS the missing part could've easily fitted in bag one.
