What is the effect of following a hashtag? Does that result in it appearing in my home feed? Does it also affect federated? You can both pin and follow a hashtags which implies they are different things #LearningToMastodon

Just discovered that even if I follow someone and they follow me, I can’t like a toot of theirs if it’s on an instance I’m not on.
