@raffaele I definitely wouldn't trust them. Are they even doing anything to make it more likely that WordPress.com will persist for 100 years?

At least the @flickrfdn is upfront about the challenges of what it might mean to have a site online for a century. Maybe WP are just needing more money.

I think the best answer is printing the website and putting copies of it in multiple physical archives (or at least friends' houses!). But then I'm a #latex_tex nerd. :-P

The #InternetArchive is on the go slow I think, and the thumbnails that my script is trying to download into a #latex_tex document are failing. That's fine though, because it's found a bug that I wrote in the file-downloading stuff: it should be writing to a temp place then moving it to its final name, rather than directly into the final location.

So I guess I'll fix that bug rather than continuing with QA'ing this folder of letters and things.

Converting quotation marks in #markdown to #latex_tex is slightly odd, because it doesn't feel super robust, but in most cases it's working, and does produce satisfying output. I think my ingrained feeling of "you can't predict quotes" is probably a bit pessimistic.

Okay #LaTex nerds time to show off 😃

I'm formatting a page for an e-paper display. I want to set my page dimensions to the size of the display's pixels. I want zero page margin (as that is provided by the case it is in). Post TeX, I'm going push PDF through convert(1) to generate a 8 bit greyscale PNG image.

What is the currently approved way to set that up? Just a new paper size? Or whole new document class? Or what?

\LaTeX for scientific writing? – Donadas Brutas

One of the best things about writing with LaTeX has got to be the fact that these files are all plain text. Being able to use regex to replace things across the entire project is the best thing in the world. I get to use regex witchery AND nice typesetting.

I feel like everybody who warned me about the pain of grant proposal writing completely glossed over the utter agony of having to use an MS Word template for that process.
