Extra views of the flying Kroot.
The wings are made of 4 layers (to give the layers of feathers) of epoxy putty over a wire and tissue/PVA base.
I referenced a variety of bird of prey for the shape and colouration. With a splash of artistic licence.

More angles of the flying Kroot conversion.
To point the weapon both legs were cut at the knees, hips and ankles (to remove the feet). One leg was then posed and glued to the weapon, staying mindful of the length of the other leg. Once both were glued in place I used putty to fill any remaining gaps and blend it all together.
The body could rotate about the hips, so getting it pointing the right way was easy.
Some more photos of my first Kroot.
As with all the first of a unit type in my army/collection I keep to the stock model and a "usual" colour scheme.
Flying Kroot.
One thing I learnt about Kroot was that they take on features of the creatures they eat.
What happens if you feed them birds?
And further to that, my answer to how would a kroot with wings handle a gun...
Sculpted wings, re-posed legs, cut off feet, glue to the hands on the gun, hide the flight stand in a plant...
This Krootox would like skritches. He’s a best Kroot boy.
