Oh boy. The induction stovetop has a personality defect that requires it to beep way too loudly whenever you touch it, even to slightly adjust the temperature. Why do they do this?

Thankfully, the fridge seems to only beep at me if I leave the door open for a long time and the oven is manual knobs (the main reason I chose that model).

We have functioning stove and oven plus tiles, and shiny new fridge! Grout for the tiles, plus installation of the sink, tap and rangehood happening tomorrow.

@ai6yr love to hear this. We have an oversized induction cooktop just sitting in the empty and unfinished kitchen. It will be nice if it is ever complete and we can cook again.

The Construction Phase has now begun. We've got a couple of days of lego plus tetris then I should have the basics of a functional kitchen by early next week.

The sparkys are all done now except for hooking up the oven and stove, which I think brings the Brick Dust stage of the Dust Festival to a close.

All the kit, except the new fridge, arrived yesterday and is ready to be put together next week. With some luck, I should have a functional kitchen back by next weekend. The tiling and flooring may take a few weeks more to sort out.

Plumbers are here and the water's coming back on!

In today's edition of The Festival Of The Dust, the sparky's assistant has just cut through one of the water pipes, for some added fun. I'm hoping the plumber can come and sort that out today (they were planning to come anyway), otherwise I'm going to have a very dry long weekend!

Update: plumbers are coming just after lunch, phew.
