Having just lost many millions making the disasterous bomb film #Megalopolis 86 yr old widower Francis Ford Coppola’s still got pieces of his once vast real estate empire, ranging from a #DaysInn in #Atlanta to plans to convert the upper floors of an iconic copper coated #SanFrancisco #NorthBeach tower once owned by the #KingstonTrio into a boutique hotel

The award-winning director may be selling off watches and pleading poverty after his “Megalopolis” flop, but he still holds a surprising collection of assets.

Musical Interlude: My parents had this record, I remember, but I don't know if I ever heard them playing it. I didn't discover this song until recently, and it's kinda nice.

The fantastic life of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone" as told by the Financial Times. Hu Nu? Dolly, Bernie, Marlene...
All inspired by a poem in a novel by Shokholov. Pete Seeger had testified before Congress' HUAC that August (House Un-American Committee, the Red Scare). Later, he gave 20% of its royalties to a camp counselor who wrote a couple more verses... just fantastic stuff.

Where Have All the Flowers Gone? — an anti-war song with roots in the Don valley

Pete Seeger used an old Cossack lullaby to craft a powerful lament for dead soldiers and those they leave behind

Here's a belated #TuneTuesday entry. My dad had a record with western songs, this was my favorite: Green Back Dollar, by the Kingston Trio.
We have this song in our repertoire 🙂

"Jumbie Jamberee" is a #calypso song credited to Conrad Eugene Mauge, Jr. In 1953 #LordIntruder released the song as the B-side to "Disaster With Police". The song is also known as "Zombie Jamboree" and "Back to Back". The introduction to the #KingstonTrio's version humorously credits "#LordInvader and his Twelve Penetrators" with authorship of the song instead of Lord Intruder. The oldest versions of the song refer to a #jumbee jamboree.

Looks like Boston's fabled Charlie Will Never Return for reasons different from what the Kingston Trio sung about.

He'll never return, no he'll never return
And his fate is still unlearned
He will ride forever 'round the streets of Boston--
He's the man who'll never return
