Trump, bei dem Gates mit anderen Tech-Milliardären erst kürzlich zum Abendessen eingeladen war (Gann et al., 2025), feierte das Memo als Erfolg (Shockey, 2025). Auch Gates habe erkannt, dass die Klimakrise ein erfundenes Problem sei. Gates hat das als „gigantic misreading“ zurückgewiesen (Harder, 2025).
