Still just blown away that John Calhoun, the guy who made Glider (and several other games in this post on Mac games I'm researching and writing) is still active online with his blog/site https://www.engineersneedart.com and he's put a bunch of the old Soft Dorothy stuff over at GitHub: https://github.com/EngineersNeedArt/SoftDorothy-UnfinishedTales-Vol1.
Also, shout out to @setsideb who wrote about John and his projects a while back here: https://setsideb.com/john-calhouns-lost-mac-games

A controversial scientist created a 'utopia' for mice. 19 months in, it all went haywire.

Is this where the idea of a rat race comes from?
"In John B. Calhoun’s early crowding experiments, rats were supplied with everything they needed – except space. The result was a population boom, followed by such severe psychological disruption that the animals died off to extinction. The take-home message was that crowding resulted in pathological behaviour – in rats and by extension in humans. For those pessimistic about Earth’s “carrying capacity,” the macabre spectacle of this “behavioural sink” was a compelling symbol of the problems awaiting overpopulation."

As far back as the slave trade, corporate apologists and mouthpieces have led by asserting that true things are false, and vice-versa. In 1837, #JohnCalhoun asserted that "Never before has the black race of Central Africa, from the dawn of history to the present day, attained a condition so civilized and so improved, not only physically, but morally and intellectually." #GeorgeFitzhugh called enslaved Africans in America "the freest people in the world."
