I'm gonna keep this short, as I don't have the mental capacity to elaborate deeply on this topic as I wanted to.

I'm annoyed at how the Jax stans have (predictably) taken the last episode's exploration of his character to glaze him and overlook the harm he's caused to the rest of the cast.

The explanation of his philosophy as a member of the circus and his evident self-destructive tendencies for self-preservation were deeply insightful. Michael Kovach's performance really hammered down how close he's to breaking behind that cruel, comedic facade. He show vulnerability like his fellow peers, who've grown through opening up to others and afronting their greatest fears.

Jax, like the rest of the cast, is a complex individual.

However, his own tragedy doesn't excuse the hurt he's committed, many times, intentionally. I believe the series itself is trying to communicate this.

You can't simply praise his fight with Pomni or his anxiety attack in the restroom, while ignoring how Gangle explicitly stated to Zooble that she was afraid of what Jax would think of her for not choosing him as her partner. And in almost all previous episodes, Jax has done nothing but constantly demean, threaten and physically hurt Gangle.

If the series really wanted to defend Jax, why would they include this scene?

His self-harm and his depression do not retroactively justify his abuse. He's making his unhealthy coping mechanisms are not everyone else's problem and should not be.

I'm tired about how Jax's fandom constantly tries to paint him as a helpless sad boy whenever new information about him comes to light. Some of the first videos when the episode dropped were already falling on to this sentiment. Some people seem to view him like a street puppy or something akin.

He's a great character, but undeniably, a really shitty person. He's not irredeemable or pure evil, but he needs to take accountability for his actions and actively try to change if he wants to get out of the hole he's put himself in.

Stop pretending all's good when he has not done anything to amend his shitty behavior. Even Ragatha apologized for being out of line towards him, despite the fact that she has many good reasons to be mad at him.
