Wieder einmal ein neues Interessengebiet entdeckt. #solorpg

#ThisWeekAtMyTable my dnd game was cancelled again, so Wife, Kid, and I finished up the #IronswornStarforged adventure we started last week.

We ended up having to rescue our smuggler contacts from the fortified bunker of a gang who had turned on them.

My Weapon Master / Ace got into a firefight with a patrol on speeder bikes, and ended up hanging from his fingertips over a crevasse of boiling acid before managing to turn the tables and rescue the smuggler captain.

#ThisWeekAtMyTable

The #dnd5e game I usually run on Fridays was cancelled, so I broke out #IronswornStarforged with Wife and Kid.

I had originally planned to play solo - since it's designed for that - but they both got interested when I started fiddling with sector/campaign creation.

We got contacted by rebels fighting against a corrupt Authority to smuggle in medical supplies, so off to space we went, tangling with raiders and discovering a forbidden research complex.

How to deal with setbacks in #Ironsworn and #IronswornStarforged? Shawn Tomkin the inventor gave this tip on Discord:

>>Anything representing a situation that puts you at a disadvantage that worsens a situation, but doesn't force a hit to health/spirit, can (and should) ping your momentum track.

I would lump a "narrative downbeat" as being more meaningful in a story sense. Something like "I get tackled to the ground in a fight" is a good excuse to lose momentum.<<

#pnpde

This is nowhere near what I have in mind, but I guess cards would still be better than an A4 sheet of paper.

Is this good/Useful ?
Should I shove them in a repo somewhere in case it helps people?

Edit: Made with this app https://starforged-asset-workbench.vercel.app/ (Thank you Mélissa where ever you are).

Edit 2: I've started a repo, I'll share it here once I made my warband.

Edit 3: Here it is, expect loads of typos, etc.

Starforged Asset Workbench

One more prompt that will bring regret as soon as I hit publish. There are so many well written games it is impossible to do them justice. Not only games, but authors whose work is always on point and it is hard to single out a book from their opus.

Wraith: the Oblivion

A local, I think at the time the only, comic book store carried some Warhammer 40K miniatures, and a few White Wolf books. I remember looking at the Wraith sitting on that bottom shelf for months. When I managed to save up the money I ran after school to get it. Once home I started reading it and it gripped me like no other game I read up to that point. I remember just flipping the pages until I was done.

Years later I was in a personal and gaming funk and sold a bunch of my books. Wraith was one of them, and I regret it to this day.

Apocalypse World

As mentioned yesterday, Apocalypse World is a work of art. The whole text work so well on multiple levels. It is punchy, direct, evocative, and yet carries the information it needs effortlessly.

Ironforged and Starforged

Ironforged was the first RPG book I read in one sitting, cover to cover, in a long time. Starforged has the same easy, light, caring about the reader style of writing that I had to include it as well.

RPG With Great Writing – Svantevid

You did back the #SunderedIsles expansion for #IronswornStarforged #TTRPG on Kickstarter already, right? You can add the excellent original Starforged books from a new print run to your pledge too. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shawntomkin/sundered-isles-expansion-for-ironsworn-starforged

You know the powers in the setting, what they want to do and how they do it.

Clear obstacles that are in the PCs way. If something that ties into the above allowing you to build on unfolding events while keeping it coherent.

Obstacles and problems that have solutions but none prescribed. Since you know they have solutions you can dole out the keys to them.

Powers thwarted so they make new plans.

Lots of random tables. I use from #IronswornStarforged
