Fusion Party Australia advocates for social justice, human rights, and environmental sustainability. The party stands in solidarity with the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in Iran and condemns the poisoning of school girls in Iran.
The Woman, Life, Freedom movement is a grassroots campaign that emerged in September 2022 after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman who died under suspicious circumstances in a Tehran hospital, while detained by Iran’s “morality police”. Courageous protesters in the country continue to march in the streets in defiance of the oppressive regime.
The poisoning of school girls started on November 30, 2022. Since then, almost 700 girls have been poisoned by toxic gases in their classrooms, by unknown assailants, in an apparent attempt to intimidate girls into avoiding school. Some of the poisoned girls required hospital treatment.
Fusion strongly supports the Woman, Life, Freedom movement and condemns in the strongest terms the poisoning of school girls in Iran. Iranian women and girls deserve the right to equality, safety, education and choice.
Fusion calls on the Iranian authorities to investigate these incidents thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice. Fusion urges the Australian government and the international community to take action to protect Iranian women's rights and ensure their safety.
