I'll be honest, I didn't see this one coming but I'm not mad about it...

From Business Insider: "In the generative AI boom, vibe coding and AI expertise have become in-demand résumé skills. But tech companies are also looking to pay a premium for expertise in people who have a skill that predates AI: The art of communication."

There's some good food for thought in this article from Ragan about accessible communications. I know I'll be rethinking #InternalCommunications going forward.

🤔 Why is "Psychological Safety" rarely discussed in internal communications?

Psychological safety is the foundation for a culture of trust, where employees feel secure enough to take risks, share their ideas, and even admit mistakes. It's a powerful tool for fostering innovation and open dialogue within your team.

This morning I read a post on Spin Sucks about Google's NotebookLM (https://spinsucks.com/communication/notebooklm-communications-planning/) and decided to spend some time playing with the tool.

In particular, I'm more than a little impressed by the ability to upload documents, images, etc. and then have it create a podcast-type audio file, along with other types of content and summaries.

I'm a hesitant AI user but this particular tool has some interesting promise and use cases.

I am really struggling with the reality of #InternalCommunications in organizations being reduced to a series of monosyllabic grunts in the form of a bulleted list.

"Too many words, they'll never read it." (there was a total of 80 words)

"Not enough ALL CAPS, they'll never pay attention to it."

"Need more exclamation points!! How will they know to be excited without the exclamation points??"

"This 10 minute video needs to be much longer." (let's add some more stuff, repeat the stuff we've already said, and take more time saying it)

Be kind to your #InternalCommunications peeps; we're exhausted.

And it's only Tuesday.

#Plants #ommunicate #distress using their own kind of #nervoussystem. Model mustard plant uses the same signals as animals to relay distress. Although plant biologists already know that changes to one part of a plant are sensed by the others, they had no idea how that information was transmitted. Now that they have seen the #calcium wave and the role of #glutamate, researchers can better monitor and—perhaps one day even manipulate—the plant's #internalcommunications.https://www.science.org/content/article/plants-communicate-distress-using-their-own-kind-nervous-system

The Secret to Leading Organizational Change Is Empathy

If you are a company leader hoping to undertake a successful organizational change, you need to make sure your team is onboard and motivated to help make it happen. The following strategies can you help you better understand your employees’ perspectives. Start by creating audience personas that map to key employee segments in your company. Then interview individual employees in each segment to get a sample perspective on typical mindsets, and tailor your communication to match their mood. It’s also important to be as transparent as possible. While you may need to keep some facts private during a transition, the general rule is that the more informed your people are, the more they’ll be able to deal with discomfort. So, learn about your team’s specific fears, and acknowledge them openly. And make sure individuals at all levels feel included. A transformation won’t succeed without broad involvement.
