@paradoxmo The point on the bottom slightly tilts the bottle when on a flat surface to make it easier for dipping nibs/pens. When you flip the cork base over there's a recess that holds the bottle upright so that the point helps with filling pens when the bottle is almost empty. I don't think it's deep enough to make much difference in filling but I have a glass pen and the dipping angle is actually kind of nice.
