Hydrovoltaics, electricity from water:
-Generate electricity from evaporating water
-Works with pure, brine, and tap water
-Tap water provides more energy density
-Using saltwater could deliver both energy & drinkable water
-Works with sweat, useful for powering body sensors

Nanodevices can produce energy from evaporating tap or seawater

EPFL researchers have discovered that nanoscale devices harnessing the hydroelectric effect can harvest electricity from the evaporation of fluids with higher ion concentrations than purified water, revealing a vast untapped energy potential.

Just tried out #ChatGPT. Asked some very detailed questions about #hydrovoltaics - and ended up having a really interesting and detailed conversation about a niche scientific topic...
Not sure yet if I'm excited or scared...
It seems my tweets get more attention during #MRSFall2022 , so lae me remind you that I'm still looking for people to join the team 😉

Hello world, I guess it standard here to post an #introduction

I'm a physicist working with scanning probe #microscopy methods that you will definitely not find in the user manual. I curious about #nanoscale structure and function, e.g. in #photovoltaic #perovskite materials, in particular electrical effects. I also study the high voltages that form in innocently looking sliding water droplets (#hydrovoltaics).

People have a love-hate relationship with the puns I make during group meetings.
