Just to show I can’t do dates and time well, this post was 9 days early for #htmlday Shrug, but writing the web in its native language ought to be more frequent, right? Write?

Writing HTML, Writing the Web, Righting the Web

Come sit around the campfire for more old web person stories. As it was when I landed on the web in 1993, I am always thinking about the making, the literal weaving as the master wrote, of the web.…

I started this page on #HTMLDay and I've gotten it tidied up and ready to share now. It's a little shrine to my Data East Time Machine #Pinball machine.

If you need a replacement apron card, or a vector trace of one of the funny little guys from the backboard plastic, here's the #website for you!

Well, it's gonna look like all I do lately, but today I brought a *different* ancient computer to a *different* meetup — #HTMLDay, actually. I set up my 1989 IBM PC clone luggable 386 to be a web server, FTP server, GUI page previewer, or HTML editor. You need to pick one task at a time because, you know, DOS, but people seemed to really enjoy it. Coincidentally, it's as old as HTML! https://www.are.na/block/38527739 https://bsky.app/profile/xan.lol/post/3lvhmhoo73k26

HTML.energy day wooo!

I went to the Portland event hosted by https://the-sudo.net.

The site I slapped together is a random collective noun generator - lots of people contributed nouns at the event - I think we as a group were called an "unordered list".

It might be a little bird heavy because I obsess over birds. If there are collective nouns I missed throw them in the comments of this thread - I'll add them if they fit.

It was also nice to meet some recurse center folks in person and see some XOXO people again.

On this day, #htmlday, we are excited to announce our first stable version of Octothorpe Protocol, v0.5. OP 0.5 includes a flexible API, self-managed #webrings, #RSS for basically everything, and a way to turn your tags into hashtags without changing your html. With it comes a new docs website made with LibDoc on @11ty. Please enjoy. https://docs.octothorp.es/ #octothorpes #octothorpeprotocol #opensource #op

For #HTMLDay today I made a page with a list of the HTML elements listed on MDN as of today. And it's got some silly uselessness too. https://artlung.com/html-day/
