Whatever you think of the taste and its position in the culinary hierarchy, parsley’s role in folklore and magic is significantly more dramatic, bringing together life, death, love, and demons like the very best of operatic metal albums.

Parsley wins! So here you go: today is allegedly the only day in the year to sow parsley seed successfully as the Devil is unable to interfere in its planting. Some also say it is the only day this plant can be moved safely in the garden avoiding bad luck for the family.

A little more rosemary lore: rosemary was supposed to reduce any unpleasant effects from consuming too much beer. As a result it was added to barrels of beer as a flavouring to enhance sobriety. In addition (and this is one of my favourites) if you had a spoon made of rosemary wood, everything you ate with it had increased nutrition & satiety.
