Nothing like a walk thru the woods on a snowy day...in late May ❄️. Our heaviest precip. event of the year so far had 💦💦 yest., which changed over late. 3cm 0C our place this morn., not unusual here 1700m on Beartooth Front. Got kidz out later up Willow Crk. trail 1850m-2000m then back, 10-15cm heavy wet powder in there. Otter staged her triumphant return back into the wild today after 9 days recovery from her punctured left front paw. Short 8K Silver Run rd/trail run 1850m-2200m then back. Sundance and I are both glad have her back w us. Fairly cool spring pattern continues 10-13C and we beat TRW- forming 👍🏽. Weak upper trough may bring us some much-needed 💦❄️ tonite/tomorrow. Got 1km further and 200m higher up on Hellroaring Rd. during our run today than we did on 4th. Even tho there was 10cm new ❄️ above 2500m, overall snowpack melting greater. Enjoyed the -4C lite N wind where we turned back 2740m. Start in Rock Crk. Canyon 2300m. Glad there was some moisture here, but town got very little. At 2700m trail goes into side gulch, still up to 1m ❄️ drifts, had return. -2C moderate E wind at start, snowing most of time, so views limited. Hellroaring Rd. still blocked by slanted drifts 2680m, but all good for running before that. One our fav. routes, start 2300m in Rock Crk. Cyn. Can get to Hellroaring Plateau 3000-3800m quickly. Snowpack has thinned/retreated since we were last up 23APR. Cool 8C at start moderate E wind. The ❄️ period last week helped slow the melt, but snowpacks are skimpy.
