Expanding protected areas, restoring nature on state land, and paying private landowners, including farmers, to do the right thing... it all costs money. 3.15 billion euro will do a lot of work.

The Green Party opposed the development of an LNG terminal at Shannon from the start.
We made it a condition of starting government talks.
The Programme for Government opposed the development of fossil infrastructure.
We took Shannon LNG off the list for European funding.
And today An Bord Pleanala, based on government policy, and our climate legislation, REFUSED permission for Shannon LNG.

Today I visited the Inchicore Works to see a prototype of the new carriages that have been ordered for the DART.

The dominance of the private car makes our streets dangerous places to walk and cycle, and increases noise and pollution. It's a vicious circle - more cars means more roads and car parks, which means everything is further away and harder to get to, which means people drive more...
We have to make it easier to choose active travel, which means providing safe infrastructure. And that's what the Green Party are doing.
