I'm bummed I did not manage a contact with the ham satellite that was in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO). The amateur radio satellite up there Greencube required quite a bit of skill to reach that bird (and life intervened here right before the satellite was decomissioned). 6000km+ from the earth. (ISS is at 400km... Starlink satellites are only at 550km). The moon is 363,300 km away from earth, and reachable via ham radio, but it requires significant antennas to send/receive signals there. (there is a repeater planned for the moon, though).

Turns out @carstengrn1 's Greencube Terminal, as well as #uz7ho soundmodem, work well on Linux under Wine. Now even I can enjoy #hamradio #greencube 🛰️ 🎊

I worked the Greencube (IO-117) satellite today for the first time.

I managed to made 6 QSOs which was way better than I expected for a first attempt

Of those six, 4 were first time QSOs and I got 5 new grid squares and 2 new DXCC entities 😀

Very little activity on #satellite RS-44 around 23:15Z, rather unusual for beginning of weekend. I wonder if all the cool kids escaped to #GreenCube nowadays.
