In case anyone else is looking for a simple (but not basic) RSS Reader that's just one binary and one config file then maybe this'll be useful.

Mainly making it for my own needs as I'm really missing Google Reader now that Twitter isn't (poorly) filling that void anymore.

Early days, but still useful.

I'm still nostalgic for Google Reader 🥲 https://www.theverge.com/23778253/google-reader-death-2013-rss-social

Fascinating bit about the name. "Reader" definitely sounds more boring than Fusion, and that name probably would have made it easier to get people to think of it as a place to consume podcasts, videos, images, etc

Who killed Google Reader?

Google killed Reader in 2013, shutting down its RSS reader after years of neglect. Now, the team that built it reflects on what they made and how the web has changed in the decade since.

Hot take. Google secretly owns Twitter and is just sunsetting it.

Google Reader was my first pinned tab in the aughties. I used to read it on my OG Droid, and it was a gut punch when I read about it's "sunset" in Reader itself while sitting on a bench at a local mall.

It's demise was the first nail in the coffin for me to start de-googling and realizing Google is not your friend.

On a positive note it lead me to Newsblur, which is a fantastic RSS reader and in almost always superior to it's ancestor.
