I've used the paid version of VideoDownloadHelper for a very long time to download videos or MP3s of videos to my PC. As a digital survivalist, I've seen too many videos disappear into the aether; I prefer to keep copies of anything I don't want to lose.

But VideoDownloadHelper and YouTube are in a constant war. YouTube keeps trying to break VDH, and VDH keeps catching up. Right now, YouTube's ahead. They've somehow managed to break the ability of VDH to download ANYTHING from certain videos, although oddly enough not •all• videos. Unfortunately the ones you can't download are the ones I want.

Luckily the various "YouTube to MP3" download sites still work. So fuck you, YouTube/Google/Alphabet!

Out and about this morning and Google Wallet decided I couldn't use it to make payments.

I always carry my wallet just in case but some cards in GW are digital-only. Is there some kind of single-purpose piece of hardware designed to be used as a digital wallet without Google in my business? I'd much prefer that.

Google has successfully broken Google Chat, or Gmail Chat, or Gchat, or whatever the hell it is this week. They reached into my phone and replaced the working Gmail Chat with Google Workplace, which is completely broken.

And it's not just my phone. They did the same thing to my son's phone. I've been expecting Google to do something like this for quite a while, so it's time for me to find a new chat or messaging app to use with friends and family.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

How bad is Google really?
I can't tell but I get a strong sense of incredible evil.

I only use my android phone in Germany (strong regulations about user data), for most of communication.

I ended my relationship on Saturday (I don't want to go into details), I called a friend and used SMS to inform other friends.

I have deactivated Voice input, talk back, location tracking etc, I have deactivated personalized advertisement since it came up. I use the pre installed calendar app and changed some dates by deleting them and changing the name of my ex partner from my affectionate pet name to their legal name.
I wish I could deactivate the fucking AI feature for Android Messages which sadly only seems possible if I flash my phones firmware.

Since than I have gotten 26 (twenty six!) adds on YouTube and other sites for dating services including:

- Christian Woman looking for traditional values (Nazi site I hear you whisper...)
- Muslime woman Marriage
- Tinder specifically for my region
- a gay app about big black c**** (?)
- a lesbian fetish app (??)
- a goth girl dating app in the US (???)
- a telegram dating forum (wtf??)
- and now a freaking Ukraine Woman dating site...

Oh and on top my recommendations on you tube shifted to
- how to tell a girl is into you (hetero)
- how to tell a girl is into you (lesbian)
- how to date XYZ (more than one video)
- how to find your perfect partner.
- how to attract men XYZ.
- insert some random idiot dating GURU here

How about just let me process what happened and what decisions I made ...

You can select multiple songs in a playlist, but you cannot move them. They can only be moved one song at a time.
