Discussion of USENET on IRC #oldcomputerchallenge got me to thinking about my state of mind circa millennium, say '95-05.

I was spending a LOT of time on USENET, on a couple accounts. ICB, IRC, AOL, ICQ all scroll & beep.

I'd hacked my Linux desktop into something really peculiar, was running mostly Enlightenment (previously IceWM, WindowMaker, briefly KDE but ha ha that shit could go in a dumpster). Everything was automated, floating windows around me.

well this is fun and kind of useless! it's hard to get a good screenshot in-game but I guess I played the #gundam tdm mode in #codm enough to get the J358 Fin Funnel v Gundam skin for the main game. I wonder if there's an inspect button?

I'm not too keen on battle passes and stuff but this is cute. Unlocked it without really even trying. I just played the Gundam stuff a lot and got it that way.

I do wish I had been playing when they had a #gits collab.

@bech Of all #gits media , the original movie from 1995 is still my favourite. 🥹
The last couple of adaptations have been very much hit and miss. The animation in the latest Netflix adaptation was atrocious!

#MasamuneShirow ‘s “The” #ghostintheshell
#manga is a wild ride. It features some truly inspiring ideas about tech, a sometimes goofy tone and occasionally a cyborg whale! The drawings have a great sense of movement and the action sequences are spectacularly well done. Being a fan of all #gits I loved it, but it isn’t a particularly easy read and has tons and tons of technical jargon.

More of the HAW-206 Prototype.

As with all the vehicles in my army/collection, I did add battle-damage. With the reclaimed/repaired nature of my army's background, a little wear'n'tear is expected.

However, the tank is fully operational and now includes a reprogrammed Necron scarab for ongoing repairs.

just finished volume 9 of #KaijuNo8 and it's getting really good. I did skim the subreddit for the #manga a bit (avoiding spoilers) and it seems that folks think it wrapped up too quickly.

I only have physical copies of 5, 6, 9, 10, and 11. I rest the front and middle of the series digitally so I'm a bit lost on how many volumes remain.

once I finish this series, I'll get back to the second book of the original #gits and maybe the human algorithm.

@Kristofferabild I saw the anime for the first time back in ‘95. It was like stepping into a completely different world, setting a new bar for a technological future you could possibly imagine. Not necessarily a future I would want to live in, but i spurred a lot of ideas. I was blown away.
