Checked the logs and USB flapping errors, ordered a new one, submitted a support request and will crack the old one open once the new one is confirmed working. I suspect it's something as simple as a solder defect. The good, I'd need a new mainboard from any other manufacturer, the bad, well, I guess there is no real bad just yet as I wasn't using it but I guess if I had to I'd probably just fix the one I have here. The new one did cost a total of $30.49 USD so there's that and the time lost in ordering and lodging a support case (primarily because I wasn't sure if it was batch related). #framework16

In the last ten minutes, I have had to disconnect and reconnect my #Framework16 keyboard four times because of bugs in the keyboard firmware. Now the trackpad stopped working.
DeltaWyeFlashing my #Framework16 seems to have significantly improved a lot of the issues I've been having. This was going from the 3.05 BIOS to the 4.03 BIOS. (AMD Ryzen 7040 class machines)
Decided to take it one step further and use the BORE scheduler via the linux-cachyos kernel packaged for Fedora. https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/bieszczaders/kernel-cachyos. With everything all the way up (screen brightness, no throttling, running prorgams like opensnitch, protonvpn/bridge, localsend, all the things) we are at about 8 hours of total usable battery time. Received my Framework 16, put it together and cloned my encrypted ssd out of my Thinkpad, surprisingly booted right up nary an issue. As in, I didn't have to do much except enter my wifi password. It's early yet so a lot to vet here. Battery life would be exponentially better if we had better userspace libs but getting roughly between 5-6 hours which is enough for the time being as this is more of a desktop replacement.
Fit and finish is pretty good considering it's repairable in lego fashion. Display is good, keyboard is actually really nice, in-fact, I think this might be one of the best laptop keyboards i've ever used. Trackpad is also really good, and comparable to lets say a modern day Macbook. I've read the reviews on the spacers not fitting seamlessly and this is something that could be solved but it would increase the cost of the laptop substantially OR make it bigger. It's already pushing the bounds on the expensive side for the market willing to purchase it. It's not an issue for me at the moment as my hands are in the space of the keyboard.

The fans in the #Framework16 make a high pitch constant squeal when the CPU is under load. It's rather annoying, especially with my 24/7 tinnitus.
Words cannot describe how much I loathe the #Framework16 keyboard. I might order a smaller laptop, effectively just for ssh, and turn this Framework laptop more into a server.
