Quick tech question.
Does the battery below qualify as a #SpicyPillow?
Just opened up my #Framework16 for something unrelated and noticed this.

Kernel 7.0.7-arch1-1 seems to break Bluetooth for the MediaTek BT7922, which is really annoying as I hate using my laptop's touchpad.
Wifi's fine, BT claims to be fine, but I can't enable it. 🤷
I wonder if there's a Wifi 7/BT card from Intel or someone that's better supported.
Swarm knowledge needed because I'm completely at a loss: Since around a month or so, my #Fedora #Framework16 with dGPU, when doing certain, heavy GPU load, around every 5 minutes goes into a mode for approx. 2 minutes where
- FPS drop to around 0.1
- Sound stutters extremely
- Everything lags
- GPU utilization drops to near zero
- CPU utilization spikes to 100%, while CPU Temp goes down a lot.
This happens in games I did not have issues with prior, and no meaningful logs are shown anywhere.
So that performance issue (really low CPU speeds when plugged into power) I’ve experienced with the FW16 - it seems like it behaves differently if I boot it with the power plugged in, versus plugging it in later after the computer has booted.
I also did a “controller reset” where you hold the power button down 30 seconds. That might have also helped it.
New blogpost:
Another update on my Frame.work 16, and why I took so much time to make one:
Oh, that's nice:
KDEs system monitor doesnt wake up the dGPU on my Framework 16 anymore on its own.
Will keep an eye on that, but that's really cool!
So I was working on a basic character model in #Blender - this is 4.5.1 LTS. Pretty rock solid. Parented a hand to an arm. BOOM. Blender crashed. Started a new scene. Two cubes. Parent one to another. BOOM. Blender crashed.
I went and switched the front end from #Vulkan to #OpenGL.
No more crashes. This is on my #Framework16 with the AMD "add-on" Radeon RX 7700S.
This is the damndest thing I've ever seen in Blender. I'm going to put crash details in reply to this.
ADDED: Colin helped me out - really old driver was the problem! :D
