When people talk about a four day week, does that include schools or just office workers? If less time at school, is there evidence on the impact for learning?

Fridays off: NSW council wants to move to a four-day working week

Millions of Australians are about to enjoy two consecutive four-day working weeks due to the Easter long weekend. One council in regional NSW wants to make that a permanent set up.

The Dutch have been quietly getting on with normalising the four day working week, and it seems to not have had the negative impact many critics have claimed, with the Netherlands' economy still one of the most successful in the EU;

as so often, real political economic change can be organic rather than forced, and in the UK while at an early stage of this process, the four day working week is slowly but surely e becoming more widely adopted. Good!

The Dutch love four-day working weeks, but are they sustainable?

The Netherlands has the lowest working hours in Europe, but some say it is harming its economy.

Here we go on another Friday which isn't like Friday Used To Be. Absolutely no one walking to the station to get a train to London at 7.30 ( the rest of the week we all have to stop at the zebra crossing for them to run to get the train ) No one in the car parks for local businesses, or queuing for an end of the week breakfast from me.

How long til we all officially call in a #FourDayWeek ? #WorkFromHome #Friday ( and often also #Monday )

I'm so happy that I'm only working 80% – on a #FourDayWeek! 😃 I'm doing it intentionally since 1.5 years to have more time to relax 🧘‍♀️🛌, to learn new things 💡, to have more time for workout 🏃‍♀️💪 and to spend more time with my partner 🫂. I can really recommend it to others.

For inspiration and sources to the scientific results I can recommend checking out www.4dayweek.com.

I continue to despair about the Labour government I voted for. There are many benefits of doing 5 days work in four days. This looks like a response to Reform rather than anything else.

More evidence (this time from the public sector in Scotland) that the four day week not only improves workers' wellbeing, it also improves productivity. Moreover, this is a proper four day week - rescued hours but no loss of pay - making it a powerful example, both for the Scottish government's management of its civil service & more widely.

The momentum is building for the four day week & its social benefits....
