Don't Let the Federal Government Regulate Your Reading

Not one country's freedom and liberty has ever been increased by banning books. H.R. 7661 threatens that principle.

If you believe that Americans should choose their own books, that families and communities should guide education without federal coercion, and that freedom of expression must be protected, add your name today. Please join us and stand up for the right to read.

Senator Jack Reed (RI) and Representative Adelita Grijalva (AZ-07) have introduced the Right to Read Act (H.R.6640 / S.3365), landmark legislation that invests in school libraries, strengthens literacy, and defends students' freedom to read.

A strong bill is only the first step. Congress needs to hear that the public expects action.

#VoteBlue for the #fREADom to read books

A program to encourage students to read more tried to ban eight books from the event, including a book on book bans. Seriously. You can't mock these people; they're more outrageous than anything you can say.

A Georgia Reading Bowl Bans Titles from Competition, Including a Book on Book Bans

Eight books, including a book about the current spate of book bans and their impact on teens, have been banned from a Georgia Reading Bowl.

When I was in school, teachers,, parents, librarians--grown-ups in general--were always encouraging students to read more, go to the library!

Now, students in sixth through 12th grade in the New Braunfels Independent School District in Texas are currently unable to visit their school libraries or check out books.

Please join me in opposing this ill-considered policy via EveryLibrary.

A new bill from Reps. Raskin and Houlahan would reverse these bans, restore educational freedom for military families, and protect school librarians and educators.
