And today I've finished #EvilGenius final judgement, good gameplay, okay story/humour, and WAY too dependent on RNG, I don't think I am going to buy EG2, since according to the reviews is not too different from its predecessor, and even worse in certain aspects
One of the biggest frustration I have with #EvilGenius is how the research is in the hands of RNG, you have to hope for your minions to look for the thing to inspire them, and then research it, which can go wrong because you can choose the wrong set of experiments and come out with dud, worst still, the attempts are not tracked, which means that you either keep tab of what you have done, or just spam the research incentive
#EvilGenius reminded me of a discussion I read awhile ago where people were stumped by the lack of games where you play as the bad guy
I think the answer rests on 2 factors: Lack of Novelty and the rise of RPG mechanics
Evil scenarios often get translated into the PC being capable of killing and torturing whoever they want and nothing more, I mean, derail the grain supplies so that the population starves and resorts to cannibalism is pretty evil, but it also feels distant
The slapstick comedy of #EvilGenius may be slightly juvenile, but it's fun
