I took my car to a #Quantum #Mechanic, and he didn't have a clue. Al I wanted him to do was to #Quantum #Entangle the rear two wheels, but he just waffled on about there being a #Meaurement #Problem. My cousin Ricky's dad fixed it ten minutes. They weren't wheels at all - they were #waves.
I just bought him a few beers, and we were all happy.

Does anyone have experience using Entangle for focus stacking? I'm using live preview mode, but auto focus still triggers on each shot. I'd appreciate any advice on using Entangle to its fullest!

Manchmal geht es bei Fotografie nicht um Schönheit, sondern um schnödes Abbilden.
Heute habe ich ~20 Bücher für die beste aller Frauen fotografiert, die demnächst bei *b*y-Kleinanzeigen angeboten werden. Aber auch das will ja ordentlich gemacht werden.

Wenn das mal aufgebaut und eingerichtet und eingemessen ist, geht das recht fix. Nach gut einer halben Stunde hatte ich das im Kasten. Für was Ernsthaftes hätte ich mir noch ein bisschen mehr Mühe gegeben, aber die Ergebnisse sind auch so gut.
Ein guter Gaul springt nicht höher als er muss. 🙂

No fancy artwork this time, just something that needs to be done. Like photos of books that are to be sold.

For this table-top-shots I use a homemade backdrop, much cheaper than what the chinese offer.

The monopod is steady as a rock - Plaubel Nr. 196. Stands for what "Made in Germany" once meant.

The Canon 5DMKII is tethered via USB to an 13 years old Thinkpad 2487 running on linux.

Entangle is a super-software for this purpose.

Testing some #tethering close-up #photography setup, using an APS-C #DSLR camera with a 17-50 mm F/2.8 lens, a #SteamDeck and #LibreSofware #Entangle

The setup is quite bulky, but I don't have any reliable and secure way to use a single tripod for both camera and the tethering tray.

On the other hand, a single tripod means using the keyboard/mouse would transmit much more vibrations to camera

TetherTools mentions #Entangle which doesn't even exist on winblow or mac os as far as I know. They use a Tux logo under Entangle logo to indicate compatible OSes. And even mentions #Debian, #Fedora and even #FreeBSD (but doesn't use it's logo).

So it's not like they were fucking totally clueless about OSes other than mac os and winblows…

Also TeteherTools: puts only winblows/mac os logos under #darktable logo… Actually, darktable have been initially released for GNU/Linux first… 🤔
