Eltz Castle (Burg Eltz) stands over the Moselle River, between Trier and Koblenz, Germany. The majority of the current castle was built in the 12th century on 70m Rock formation and is owned by descendants of the Eltz family, who lived there since its construction. It featured on the 500DM note from the 1960's to the early 1990"s when the note was taken out of circulation.
