Nov 25, 1942: On this date, operatives of the Special Operations Executive & partisans of the Greek resistance groups EDES (the National Republican Greek League) & ELAS (the Greek People’s Liberation Army) destroyed the Gorgopotamos railway bridge in Operation Harling. The purpose of the mission was to cut off the supply route from Germany to Rommel’s army in North Africa though the impact of the operation was limited.
