My daughter and another 14-year-old girl have just hatched a brilliant plan: make #Siri gaslight her users.

As Big Boss of #Apple they would make Siri give people different grades of information and treat them differently depending on how polite they were to Siri. Examples:

"Siri, it's lovely to see you this morning. What will the weather be like today?"

*77 degrees fahrenheit with light clouds and a chance of showers in the evening. You might want to pack an umbrella for your regular evening walk."

- or -

"Siri. Weather. Now."

*77 degrees... bitch.*

Importantly, Siri would never admit it insulted users or downgraded their information. This would play out much like the ongoing "is my phone listening to me?" question. Also, in transcripts of Siri's messages the insults would never appear. Siri could insult people (which would be very occsaional) in a different voice, so it would be easy for Apple to insist that any recordings of this were faked.

These kids don't have much technical know-how (I think they can maybe code simple things in a kid-friendly scripting language), but their villain skills are top notch.

I can't believe the nerve of a person who pitched to be on my show. After they pitched me and I said let's have a convo they asked me for my stats and to justify their time on my show.

You may have heard that President Musk's latest inane demand to the civil service was an email that went out demanding that all U.S. government employees summarize what they accomplished in 5 bullet points, and send it via email to [email protected] .

This is, of course, ludicrous and pointless. There's no real way to use such unstructured data - it's probably just another attempt to terrorize employees into quitting.

However... if you assume they do actually want to do something with this data, then polluting that data with garbage, lots of garbage, enough to drown out any real responses, would be a good way of throwing a wrench into that bit of ratf*ckery (the workers threw their shoes, called sabot, into the machines, hence ... sabotage).

This would be impossible, of course, if the email address [email protected] were closed to submissions from outside government networks, as it should be. But it isn't. The DOGE bros are incompetent as well as everything else.

It would be a real shame if [email protected] drowned in useless reports, preventing this technique from working. So don't do that.

That email address, again, is `[email protected]`. That's `hr` at `opm.gov`.

This just happened when I started Mastodon on my work PC just a few minutes ago.

I'll follow who I want to follow, not some recommended folks by some algorithm or AI or whatever this is powered by.

If you use generative AI products, you are not "adapting to the new", rather you are robbing yourself of competence, while training your replacement.

The end-goal of the companies that push these overrated contrivances is that it will eventually be able to do your job better than you can, not because it is good at it, but because you no longer have the capability to work without it.
