Pivot PET felt adjustable lamp duo by De Vorm

Dezeen Showroom: Dutch design brand De Vorm has updated its bell-shaped Pivot pendant light, which is made from recycled PET felt, by connecting it to a second shade using a sleek aluminium rail.

The Pivot adjustable lamp duo consists of two felt caps that can be turned and tilted to tailor the direction of the light.

"Pivot started with the idea to create a lamp that is versatile in its expression as well as in use," De Vorm told Dezeen. "We always leave it to the architect to decide how the final product looks by making our designs customisable."

"With this new lamp, we also wanted to offer extra freeform in its application by incorporating a dynamic element into the design," the brand added.

The shades can be adjusted to point in different directions

The lampshades can be set in five different positions while suspended from the ceiling using steel cables and a transparent electrical cord that can reach up to three metres in length.

The Pivot duo has two dimmable light settings – warm white and neutral white – as well as 11 colour options for the felt shade, making it suitable for various interiors including offices, restaurants and social spaces.

While the rail is made from lightweight aluminium, the textured lampshade consists of a single piece of felt manufactured from recycled plastic bottles.

According to De Vorm, the material is "an answer to ecological sustainability and environmental quality requirements in contemporary interior design".

Dezeen Showroom: Dutch design brand De Vorm has updated its Big Modular Table System with a design that is more sustainable and boasts add-ons.

The Big Modular Table System enables the creation of custom tables up to ten metres long and two metres wide and is suitable for dining, working or meetings.

With the new generation of the system, De Vorm switched to one of the most circular types of aluminium for its base material.

It contains up to 75 per cent recycled material while meeting the same quality standards as virgin material. It is also fully recyclable and produced locally using renewable energy sources.

There are also a range of new customisation options for elements such as cable compartments

The design's frame has also been optimised, and now 30 per cent less material is used, creating a product that is lighter than the previous iteration but just as strong and stable.

Completing the new generation Big Modular Table System are additional customisation options, including steel or wood for the frame and legs, and five cable compartments.

Twist stool by De Vorm

Dezeen Showroom: the Twist stool by De Vorm features a tubular steel frame that aids stacking and is made for social spaces such as bars, restaurants and schools.

The Twist stool comes in three heights and provides occasional seating for use at desks, counters and bars. Both lightweight and stable, it is easy to stack and move around.

The key is Twist's tubular frame, which features two horizontal supports below the seat to provide stability during stacking and a grip for lifting.

Each stool is designed to be positioned at a 90-degree turn to the one below it when stacked, keeping the balance and informing the design's name.

Twist also features a curved PET felt seat, made using a newly developed pressing technique.

"We have managed to create a double curvature and different densities of the seat that perfectly fit the frame on one side, and are optimal for the human body on the other side," said De Vorm.

Twist comes in three standard heights, with a choice of 11 PET felt blends for the seat and any RAL colour for the frame. The seat can also be upholstered in a range of fabrics.

Mute Fraction PET felt acoustic panel by De Vorm

Dezeen Showroom: De Vorm has released its latest acoustic panel, Mute Fraction, which is made from PET felt and based on a three-dimensional version of the golden ratio known as the plastic number.

The Mute Fraction PET felt acoustic panel has a distinctive pattern designed using this proportion system, which was put forward by Dutch architect and monk Dom Hans van der Laan in 1928 and sees the 3:4 ratio as the basis of harmonious composition.

As with the golden ratio, van der Laan argued that elements that conform to the plastic number are pleasing to the human eye and don't feel out of proportion.

Following this principle led the De Vorm design team to the Mute Fraction panel, which consists of five unequal segments divided by five ribs.

The panel can be used vertically or horizontally and can be made to fit any surface, as all parts can be connected seamlessly.

The panel is the latest in De Vorm's Mute series of PET felt acoustic products and is available in a range of 11 colours.

Dezeen Showroom: plastic bottles are recycled into PET felt to form this lamp by Dutch design brand De Vorm, which doubles as an acoustic panel.

With its oversized dome shape, the Fost PET Felt acoustic lamp helps to absorb noise in crowded environments while bringing a unique character to everything from offices to restaurants.

The Fost lamp provides both sound insulation and a dimmable light

Fost's distinctive ridged shade is made by 3D pressing recycled PET felt into a mould and available in 11 different colour blends.

Its interior is finished with a white fabric lining that gently diffuses the light emanating from the lamp's spherical LED module.

Fost comes in 11 colours that can be either matched or contrasted with the surrounding interior

"The way the light source stretches the textile resembles the visual representation of how heavy objects stretch the fabric of spacetime, hence the name Fost," said the De Vorm design team.

"The fabric becomes one with the light source, connecting the inside with the outer shell. At the same time, the white surface makes the contrast between the inside and the outside more apparent."

The Hale PET Felt lounge chair can be customised with a choice of 11 PET felt blends, custom RAL colours for the powder-coated steel frame, and the option of upholstery in a range of hues.

The chair's few components are easily disassembled, so it can be recycled at the end of a long life.
