This federal dataset on #train accidents is amazing. In 2022, #Ohio ranked 3rd for number of accidents, behind #Georgia and #Texas. Meanwhile, #Vermont did not have any. This article from The NY Times (gift link to avoid paywall) shows just how common #train #derailments are in the US. Over 1000 derailments per year. That # is down since the 1970s, but the number of derailments involving #hazardous materials is up.

Northern #Ohio (where #EastPalestine is and I lived for 10 years) is a hotspot.
