Getting that semi-matte surface was not easy. You have to use a lot finer grits than with wood, it's a very scratch-unforgiving material. I had to go up to 1000 grit paper to get the right feel, and then a plastic buffing paste applied with a cotton buffer drill disk. That and some patience gets you there.
Getting that roundness on the tip for the thickest one was fiddly, but worth it because of... other-than-impact uses. Either way I absolutely recommend rounding the tips to some extent, because given how hard and heavy this material is, you do NOT want sharp tips causing unpleasant damage.

Right, are we ready for some DIY delrin canes? Here are the prototype ones I've made so far, in thicknesses of 6mm, 8mm, 12mm and (the madman of the bunch) 20mm. The thinnest one I just made a wooden handle by drilling into a cheap piece of wood and supergluing it, for the rest I 3d-printed a custom handle and fixed it with a screw (which works well enough, but you kind of have to embrace the PLA roughness as a design feature).
Delrin fascinated me because the black looks cool, and its bendy but strong in a way that works well for a cane. It's also very cheap, the materials for these are no more than about €1-€2 per cane.
They behave and feel like rattan canes when you use them, but they do NOT hit the same way. It's heavier and it's HARD in a way rattan isn't. Not everyone is going to like the sensation. The 20mm is just a straight-up baton, 100% thud.
