I had the honor and privilege to present David Wright with this gift before the game today. A signed jersey from @[email protected] with a plaque that says “Captain, Thanks for the memories. The 7 Line Army”. As a kid growing up loving the @[email protected], never in my wildest dreams would I ever picture myself being on a first name basis with any players, let alone ones with their numbers retired by the team. We can absolutely add today to the list of pinch me moments thanks to The 7 Line. Shout out to my wife Kelly, Lizy, and Dru for handing it off with me. It's David Wright day at Citifield. They retired his number (5) and hung it up in the stadium next to all of the other retired numbers.

He had to retire early due to a Spinal Stenosis diagnosis. That was a sad day for Mets fans. I wish he had gotten to finish out his career the normal way, but it was not to be.

I miss seeing him play.
