It is interesting to observe that #LiamNeeson plays the doctor character falsetto, using his real voice for the monster.

Also interesting is that Sam Raimi's brother Ted is the first baddie to be killed.

The youth of today will be astounded at the suitcase-sized car 'phone in the opening scene.

Both 3-D printing and synthetic skin actually existed at the time; but a photocopier as the input scanner was not quite the technology of the time, and 2 Pin Art toys pressing together is not what the output stage looks like. (-:

The synthetic skin visuals were not computer-generated, as they would be today. It's actual microscope imagery from Oxford Scientific Films.

Those and the practical effects and stunts oddly make this seem more realistic than today's comic book movies, despite its gangster plot from the 1930s.
