@abcfeeds Or invest in the CSIRO quantum batteries, and become the first state in the world to use an Australian product developed by the CSIRO as a new power storage combining with renewable sources. Australia should also be the top teir producer and researcher in farming tech.
Why isn't it? Ah, yes, the LNP cuts funding to and privatises everything. Reliance on diesel and fossil fuels in general should be reducing and minimising. We should be better than this.

Re: https://www.csiro.au/en/news/All/News/2026/March/Quantum-battery-full-cycle

The Australian government (mostly LNP) in continued escalation of its Neoliberal capitalist push cut massive amounts of funding to its premier science research institute. This effectively privatises any research for-profit-only.

The CSIRO have developed proof-of-concept quantum batteries, and are now "seeking interest from potential development partners." ie, private investment for the future of these batteries.

Australian scientists achieve energy storage and quantum battery breakthrough

Researchers develop the first quantum battery that could pave the way for long- distance charging of devices and super-fast charging of electric cars.

Sicilianews24.it: Un marsupiale australiano ribelle torna in auge sfidando siccità e specie invasive.

An Australian marsupial, a rebellious one, is rising to prominence while challenging drought and invasive species.

The Rise of the Ampurta: From the Brink of Extinction to a Bright Future
Not long ago, the ampurtas, also known as the mulgara with a crest, were on the verge of extinction in Australia. Recent studies have documented an extraordinary recovery. This small marsupial has expanded its habitat by an area as large as Denmark between 2015 and 2021, marking a process of re-expansion initiated thanks to the resolution of a disease that drastically reduced the population of non-native rabbits. This led to a decrease in the number of foxes and feral cats that prey on small animals, including ampurtas.
Despite the good news, Australian scientists express concern about the lack of investment in the biological control of rabbit and feral cat populations.

Characteristics of the Ampurta and Its History
The ampurtas, a marsupial the size of a sugar glider with a sandy-brown or blond color, is easily recognizable for its short, fat tail, which ends with a black crest. This micro-predator, once abundant in the arid and sandy landscapes of Central and Western Australia, was classified as a threatened species in 1994.
The decline in ampurtas (Dasycercus hillieri) populations was caused by human action. Between the 1930s and 1960s, the expansion of colonists triggered a series of declines and extinctions of Australia’s Central fauna. Chris Pavey, a wildlife ecologist at the CSIRO government research agency, explained how colonization modified the land, promoting agriculture and introducing foreign animals.
The population of red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) and European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) were introduced by the British for hunting purposes, while domestic cats (Felis catus) that were sometimes transported alive lived in the wild. These invasive species profoundly altered the ecosystem, inflicting serious damage on ampurtas and other small animals.

Quantum batteries flip the script on energy storage: instead of slowing down as they grow, they charge faster at scale and CSIRO has built the first working prototype chip. ⚡🔋

What Is a Quantum Battery? CSIRO Just Built the World's First One

A quantum battery uses quantum mechanics to store energy faster than any conventional battery. Here's what it is, how it works, and why CSIRO's 2026 breakthrough matters.

Think its _Currently_ hard keeping up with nascent battery technologies ?

Or maybe we can revisit this later when we forget to charge the Tardis.
:)

Meanwhile here on Earth-vI.0 at _this_ moment ...

"""So, why aren’t we seeing quantum batteries in stores?

Well, the capacity of quantum batteries is still tiny (a few billion electron-volts), and the time they hold their charge is fleetingly short (a few nanoseconds).

This means quantum batteries are too small to power conventional devices such as your mobile phone, at least for now."""

A world-first quantum battery charges faster when it gets bigger – but it’s tiny and only lasts nanoseconds

In quantum batteries, subunits take collective action to charge faster.

@peterrenshaw it's a deplorable testimony to the essential sameness of contemporary labs & liebs. it was entirely within elbow's capability to have fixed this crisis, but ofc he did not.

under the tenure of that bastard larry marshall, given the job by the egregious anti-science COALition to destroy CSIRO, the rot really began. however, the subsequent labs reign has not helped, so this arseholic shitfuckery continues. tis appalling to the max.
