With the bar set extraordinarily high for NC-17 and AO for films and video games, the only reason for the MPA and the ESRB to apply those ratings is to condemn a work's contents, with the effect of damaging its commercial prospects, while at the same time making it seem mystical to all the daring. Who said anything about being informative?
