I would like to thank @rebeccawatson for pinpointing straight away the central issue when it comes to these #recognition technologies. Too often, we are first concerned with the impact it might have on our lives, but we completely forget about the hundreds of millions of #clickworkers, exploited through a #digital #gigeconomy and what these system reflect of the deeper #techbro ideologies such as #technofascism and #mass-surveillance of all those who are not the #CEO‘s.

@minimalparts I'm not a computational linguist or even engineer, but I can't help worrying about AI, because the problem they pose isn't just whether they are junk science or not (they are not). It's much more far-reaching than that. AI is an extension of the capitalist colonisation of the global south, where hundreds of millions of #clickworkers are being exploited to the marrow to moderate social media and train AI. Sorry, but I can't sit on that and just ignore it. This is not a distraction.

That's really gonne require them to either cancel most people or need to book a different venue capable of holding the demand...

  • Tho we can't be shure how many of those folks would actually buy tickets and estimates to the amount of #bots or rather #clickworkers getting paid to do #scalping ranges from 10% to 95% depending on the item...

Just like with 9th Generation Consoles...
