Binnu Jeyakumar, Electricity Director at the Pembina Institute, made the following statement in response to the Government of Alberta's announcement of a seven-month moratorium on approvals of renewable electricity projects and the government’s intention to develop restrictions impeding renewable energy development in the province.
"Transitioning homes from gas-powered furnaces to more efficient, reliable heat pumps that provide homes with both heating and cooling can keep residents safe from extreme temperatures while keeping utility bills affordable," writes Betsy Agar, director of the buildings program at the Pembina Institute.
