European Environmental Agency: Social fairness key to success of carbon pricing in road transport and buildings
The introduction of the EU’s second ‘cap and trade’ emissions trading system (ETS2) for the road transport and buildings sectors will help spur Europe’s decarbonisation ambitions, accelerating the shift to cleaner fuels and technologies. Providing early financial support to vulnerable households and businesses, policy coherency, strong public backing, transparency and clear communication will be key to its success, according to two European Environment Agency (EEA) briefings published today.

Was great to see parts of my youth represented! Though I was less keen on finding that the Beano's publisher also publishes "Energy Voice", working with industry and govt to maximise the economic recovery of UK oil and gas.
It's clear that we can't extract new oil and gas and keep a liveable planet for all ... and carbon capture and storage isn't the answer either. A just transition for all is required. People's lives depend on it - fossil fuel workers and people on the climate frontline - and everyone will be on that frontline sooner or later. We need resilience and community.
