Java and I went on a day trip down to Castner Glacier with a few friends today. As usual, I didn't pack a phone and so I have no actual pictures of the ice cave to share. Brillant and beautiful to say the least. It's a bit of a drive on the Richardson Hwy, but the trail to the glacier is only a 1.5 mile walk on fairly flat land. Totally worth the trip.

An intriguing pattern of longitudinal crevasses on the Castner Glacier in the Alaska Range. These less common cracks form where the glacier valley widens, increasing the tensile stress on the ice and running parallel to the flow direction.
