The crater’s proposed name honors mission Commander Reid Wiseman’s late wife, who passed away in 2020. No matter how far we travel, the ones we love stay with us. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) is the entity responsible for naming planetary features. Lunar features are generally named after explorers, scientists, or engineers who have been deceased for three years, but several features have also been officially named for the provisional names that astronauts designate during lunar exploration, like Carroll’s. One example is Mount Marilyn, named for Jim Lovell’s wife.".

Well, I didn't expect tearing up while watching a rewind of the NASA feed on YouTube just after the Artemis II mission crew broke the distance-from-Earth-by-a-human record when Reid Wiseman and the crew proposed naming a crater after his deceased wife, Carroll.
Hearing him choke up, and watching all of them wiping their tears and hugging, was record breaking in its own way.
Tears in space.
