Former Care Home Manager Found to Have Abused Children Over Nearly Two Decades

5. I’ve lost faith in them completely.

Much as I admire some of the nursing staff, who work bloody hard, it’s obvious that the home is being run down from its starting point, to extract maximum cash for its investors.

I knew little about how private equity works, but once you see it in operation, you realise why it’s such a cancer in our society.

I’m reaching out to another home.

3. The management showned up half an hour later on an unintelligible team call. Imagine a hallway packed with 60 elderly residents and family, trying to listen to a man warbling on a laptop, which was an amplified by holding a karaoke microphone next to the speaker. To add a dash more fubar, the speaker was set to add some weird echo/delay. Utter chaos.

Venting here, apologies. Thread
1. After dropping their CQC care home rating from ‘good’ to ‘needs improvement’, and losing 3 managers in the space of 6 months, the management at my mum’s care home thought they’d print some bullshit PR to reassure (gaslight) everyone that things weren’t on the slide.

It included satisfaction statistics that were entirely unattributed/fictitious (see pic).

Porthcawl dementia care home sold for first time in 36 years

Pinehurst Rest Home, a boutique residential dementia care home in Porthcawl, has been sold for the first time in its 36-year history.

The home, which is registered for up to 11 residents, was established in 1989 by Patricia Attwood and passed to her daughter, Alexandra Crane, in 2004. Ms Crane has now decided to sell the business and retire.

Following a confidential sales process, the home has been sold to Mani Neelamegan and Dr Muthuvairavan, an experienced operator with two other homes in South Wales, Manorleigh House and Fairleigh House.

Alexandra Crane, the former owner, said: “I am incredibly proud to have followed in my mum’s footsteps and continued her legacy of compassion, respect, dedication, and commitment to every resident who has lived here. I am confident that the new owners are equally committed to ensuring the home continues to thrive, while preserving the small, homely environment that has always made Pinehurst special.”

New owner Mani Neelamegan commented: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Pinehurst Rest Home into our family of care homes. Pinehurst has a strong reputation within the Porthcawl community, and we are committed to building on the excellent foundations already in place. Our focus has always been on providing compassionate, person-centred care in a safe and homely environment.”

The sale was handled by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co, with funding sourced through Christie Finance. The sale price was undisclosed.

‘We’ve been together ever since’: Swansea couple celebrate 63 years of marriage after moving into care home together

Margaret and David Beynon moved into Peniel Green Care Home on 21 January and have already become firm favourites with staff and residents. They’re the only married couple living at the home — and their love story stretches back nearly seven decades.

‘He didn’t show up… then we had a row… and we’ve been together ever since’

Margaret was 17 when she first met David, then 19, during a day out with friends in 1958. She still remembers the nerves — and the drama.

“I was out with a friend and we met up with these two boys. I was so shy on the day we met that we rearranged a new date — where David didn’t show up,” she said.

“So third time lucky, we went on another date, where David and I had a row over him not showing up the previous time. We have been together ever since.”

The pair married in 1962 — a day Margaret calls “the best day of our lives.”

A family built on six decades of love

Since that wedding day, the couple have raised two daughters, welcomed four grandchildren and celebrated the arrival of six great‑grandchildren.

David still talks about Margaret with the same affection he had as a teenager.

“She’s been the best wife,” he said.

Margaret smiled back:

“I couldn’t ask for a better husband.”

Settling into life at Peniel Green

Staff say the couple have brought warmth and joy into the home from the moment they arrived.

Lisa Sullivan, Senior Wellbeing Coordinator at Peniel Green, said:

“Margaret and David are a beautiful, loving couple, and we are so pleased they have come here to start a new chapter in their lives. What a beautiful love story.”

Rhian Dummer, Home Administrator, added:

“It has been wonderful to hear Margaret and David’s story and to see the affection they have for each other. Their love is truly inspiring and brings a lot of joy to everyone here at Peniel Green.”

A Valentine’s date, 63 years on

To mark Valentine’s Day, Margaret has invited David on a “Valentine’s Cake and Cuppa Date” in the home’s dining room — a chance to celebrate their enduring romance with fellow residents and staff.

Peniel Green says it is “delighted” to be part of the couple’s ongoing journey and is already looking forward to celebrating more milestones with them.

Nearly 70 years after a shy teenager and a no‑show date sparked their first argument, Margaret and David are still choosing each other — every single day.
