Khazones Underground

Sounds from the past, joy for the future

However, in the majority of "old fashioned" #klezmer music and even more so in classic #cantorial music, it's not as common to compose an entire piece in this scale, but rather it is used in modulations for with very powerful effect. For example this Romanian-Jewish piece from New York 1910s, most of the piece are in natural major or minor, only a brief intervals like around 0:40 does it briefly shift into this mode, which makes the whole thing way more interesting.

Finally published the draft I have been researching for the last 2 weeks or so, to rewrite the messy #Wikipedia article about the Ukrainian Dorian scale (known as Mi Sheberach in #klezmer or #cantorial music) into something I consider more well-rounded, structured and coherent.
I admit I am stronger on #MusicHistory than #MusicTheory so feel free to let me know if you think I got something wrong on the the theory side! #FolkMusic
