📈 #Wordpress x #BunnyCDN experiments part 3 (see previous toots) 🐇
The site is still up - miraculously so.
I suppose all I had to do was turn on "Smart Cache" in my bunny.net account. Wow! 🎉

#BunnyNet did a good job this time... the site stayed up, ouf. @Michaël (@mirou) reported trouble loading the site initially, but then it worked.
A visualization of requests (see photo attached).
Not sure how conclusive this first test is because the blog post's cover image didn't render on the fediverse... and I shared it from my GoToSocial account, which has 3k followers. I suppose the tide of requests wasn't super impactful.
The true test would be boosting that post from my Mastodon account... which has 13k followers 😟
Let's do it
👩🏻💻 my so-called sudo life - day 497: Mastodon stampede edition 🐘
Dear Fedi friends,
You may remember how last year I was dealing with self-DDoS attacks every time I shared a link to my Wordpress or Ghost sites. Well, I solved the issue with Ghost (#VinylCache is brilliant) but I never found a solution for my Wordpress site... not even with #BunnyCDN. I guess I wasn't tweaking the right settings.
This is a pity because TBH the ActivityPub for Wordpress plugin is SO COOL and works flawlessly. I had to move my blog posts to Ghost and keep Wordpress as a static portfolio site. That being said, I never dared share links to my Wordpress site anymore because I would get about 4000 requests within 60 seconds and everything would freeze.
I just looked into #BunnyCDN's settings again and tried to tweak them. So please bear with me for an experiment, sharing an old blog post and seeing what happens.
Wish me luck!

WOOT! #Bunnynet finally has #S3 early access! (I missed this notification was one month ago) Really looking forward to using it for my #Indiekit storage needs. Being a big fan of their CDN and #statichosting, I have high hopes.

BunnyCDN cannot be used for Mastodon protection against DDoS.
Switching to Bunny DNS
A recent post by Henrique made me look into Bunny DNS again. In the past I already tried it for one or two domains but eventually stopped using it because they didn’t support DNSSEC yet. Instead I relied on the wonderful services of DeSEC. But now that support for DNSSEC and TLSA records is finally here, I switched again to Bunny DNS with all 21 of my domains.
Thank you, kind stranger, who used my Bunny referral code! You helped me cover my hosting fees! 🥰
I still enjoy using Bunny.net a lot for my static website hosting and #CDN needs. If you have any questions about #Bunny Storage or #BunnyCDN, shoot me a message!
Here's my code if you decide to give it a try: https://bunny.net/?ref=k4vc3x5108
Oh, I am planning on setting up Bunny Stream for a friend who does video on WP so the videos are "native" to the blog instead of relying on YouTube/Vimeo... 🤞
