The problem with #bothsiding in news/journalism is that 1) there typically are more than just two sides and 2) bothsiding often creates the impression that two sides are equally supported, where in reality it almost always is (at least) a Pareto distribution. 80% support one side, 20% max the other side. This skews the perception and gives the minority view an unfair advantage. IMHO (In My Humble Opinion).

Better: Have and represent a clear position. Stop trying to include the fringe and crazy.

This is a foreshadowing of what could come to the United States if the #ChristianNationalists take over.

Point out that many preachers are immoral bastards that are only in it for the money and power?

Suggest that the Bible may have translation errors, or that it is full of contradictions?

Suggest (as I have on several occasions) that the so-called "apostle" Paul was really a fraud, and among the first of the "false Christs" that Jesus is said to have warned his followers about?

Offend your local clergyman in some way, or don't obey all of the many rules he and his church lay down for you and your family (even if they are different rules than adhered to by other churches in your area)?

Don't attend church, or fail to put money in the collection plate as demanded?

Well, off with your head then! And maybe the same for your wife and/or your heathen children! And maybe also your parents, because they obviously did not raise you to be God-fearing (actually church fearing).

I wish I were exaggerating, but that is exactly the sort of thing that happened in the dark ages, and even to some extent in the early days of the USA., and could happen again if we don't stop it. Authoritarians don't like being challenged or told they are wrong, and they certainly don't want you giving the subserviant, submissive sheep in "their" flocks any ideas.

And the goddamned news #media is barely talking about the dangers of #ChristianNationalism in a misguided effort to be "fair" to both sides. Which is like saying that any time they report on a mass murderer, they must also report on someone who illegally picked flowers in a public park, and make sure to equate the two as being just as bad!

Oh, and by the way, if you are a #Christian and think you will get a free pass, I would not be so sure. Consider the scenario where one church believes they are the one true God-ordained church, and that all the other churches are the spawn of the devil. That has happened in the past, too. You'd better hope you belong to the "right" church when they decide to start killing all the infidels!

(If the Christofascists gain power and they can't agree on a single strong leader, the next civil war could be churches fighting with each other over which one "God annointed" to take control!)
