If we ate mostly plant based diets, nature would get around 75% of the planet's fertile land back. Our oceans would recover too. Simplest solution for carbon capture, natural world, climate resilience, food chain preservation & biodiversity. A massive step to a sustainable and safer future for humans.
Studies show that shifting to a plant-focused food system would release fertile land the size of combining the entire United States, China, the European Union, and Australia.
Music was an escape for me, a better place, like books and films. Recording radio programs and cutting the DJ talk out to make mixes with tape to tape was something I started quite young.
I had an elderly neighbour who let me listen to some of her record collection sometimes too. She had good taste in Blues, Motown, Jazz, Funk, Soul, etc.
I know in these days of algorithms and streaming making #playlists isn't as special anymore as making mixtapes, mix CD's, mix minidiscs, mix MP3s, once were, but for what it's worth here is thread with a few of my playlists for various different moods.
For starters here's a big really varied cross genres #playlist with quite a lot of #newMusic & more obscure tracks.
Hi there๐ This is a good place to be! In this thread I share some of the key stuff I have learned about the Fediverse, it's apps & platforms & culture and how to find your way around, incase it's helpful for someone else. I try to summarise the important stuff I've learnt about #Fedi culture & tech.
I've been plantbased for a decade and a half. I do best when I keep motivated for home cooking easy wholesome filling stuff, often in big batches.
It's easier to swap many recipes over than most people think. Anyone wanting to try a bit of #plantBased I'll cheer you on. I don't like all or nothing attitudes. This became a thread with a load of filling but not fussy home cooked ideas. There are also some pointers for convenience substitutions, like these Red Onion & Rosemary bangers (sausages).
I post about creative stuff, my day & #dogs & #ADHD (the pros & cons) it's #NeuroDiverse not neurodiminished. Surprising how many in creative / tech now have diagnosis.
I believe in hope, in optimism, in learning from our mistakes, adapting, innovating, improving. I like to post about interesting advances, about beneficial things we can, or could do, at individual or large scale.
I like to follow lots of different people. It can be good for keeping a bit of my scrappy european languages skills together too. Also I intensely disliked Twitter's unheard serfs vs broadcasting overlords model of low follows but high following (for post visibility) it seemed sort of arrogant & elitist.
Everyone matters. I profoundly โค๏ธ that #Fediverse leaves air in the room for the quiet ones, the shy ones, the awkward ones. Sometimes I can talk to a room, sometimes I'd rather watch from the sides, depends on the day or setting.
That's probably enough for most people, I might add more below.
